Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium has reported being crowned Midlands Wedding Venue of the Year at the British Asian Wedding Awards.
Staged at the Marriott Hotel London Grosvenor Square in-front of 400 guests, Edgbaston beat off competition from eight local venues to be crowned Midlands Wedding Venue of the Year by the judges. The Bradford Hotel won the North Wedding Venue and Boreham House the South Wedding Venue.
Navneet Mangat, special events sales co-ordinator at Edgbaston Stadium, said: “Being named as the Midlands Wedding Venue of the Year is a great achievement and pays testament to the hard work from our staff.
“We’re very fortunate to have such great facilities at a unique venue – an international cricket stadium – but our staff constantly go the extra mile to provide the best possible wedding experience possible, whether it’s providing outstanding food, unique pitch side photography, congratulatory messages on the stadium scoreboard or supporting firework displays.”
Edgbaston transformed its wedding offering after completing a £32m stadium redevelopment in 2011, which provided new conference and banqueting suites.
The venue has accommodated more than 30,000 guests for weddings in the last two years and can accommodate up to 650 guests in its flagship Banqueting Suite, through both catered and self-catered weddings.
The British Asian Wedding Awards win in the second accolade in the last 12 months for Edgbaston after it was named Best Venue in the Birmingham Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards in June 2016.
