ALHI opens global sales office in London

Peter Groom, Fairmont Hotels’ former director of global accounts in the UK has joined Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) to open a London office as part of ALHI’s sales force expansion in Europe.

As executive director of global sales, Groom will be representing 250 luxury-level member hotels and resorts.

Global sales organisation ALHI has been serving the North American MICE marketplace for more than 30 years and the new European office further expands the organisation’s footprint.

ALHI’s chief sales officer, Mark Sergot, announcing the expansion plan, said: “With over 30 years of GSO service to the North American marketplace, we are very pleased to now expand our ALHI GSO services abroad, in response to the many requests from planners and members.” He added that the move meant clients were now had one-call access to ALHI’s portfolio.

Sergot added that the ALHI’s Global Luxury Alliance partnership included 23 luxury cruise ships appropriate for M&I programmes, and DMCs in 100-plus locations, all now bookable through the European office. “Peter and our entire ALHI team look forward to serving the needs of planners in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.”

Groom serves on the board of directors for SITE Great Britain and added he was “looking forward to serving meeting, convention and incentive professionals in Europe on behalf of ALHI’s truly exceptional hotels and resorts”.

ALHI’s membership offers 138,500 hotel rooms and more than 10m square feet of meeting space. ALHI is a membership-based, dues-funded organisation operating in 63 countries.
