Stamford Bridge, home to Chelsea Football Club, has hosted a familiarisation for 10 high profile UK-based events agents, the first time it has organised such a thing.
The trip was designed to highlight Stamford Bridge’s award-winning facilities and prime location at the heart of the capital with its numerous attractions right on the venue’s doorstep. The itinerary began with welcome drinks in the hotel’s Delta Lounge and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium and its 60-plus event spaces, followed by dinner at the venue’s very own premium steakhouse, Marco Grill and a night’s stay in the onsite Copthorne Hotel.
On Day 2, guests were given a taste of both traditional and quirky London experiences, with a tour of the city in four restored classic MINIs hosted by tour company smallcarBIGCITY, followed by afternoon tea at The Orangery in the grounds of Kensington Place, cocktails in Artesian Bar at The Langham Hotel and dinner at Balthazar London. To finish off the night, guests made their way to Shaftesbury Theatre for a performance of Motown the Musical, before returning to the Copthorne Hotel and departing the next day.
Sarah Elliott, meetings & events consultant at Inntel Ltd, said: “I loved seeing the stadium, The Orangery and The Langham, and the MINIs were brilliant. All in all – definitely the best and most memorable FAM trip I have ever been on.”
Michelle Rees from a global law firm, said: “I was really grateful to finally see the meeting spaces at Stamford Bridge. The whole FAM trip was so well organised and each of the external venues I visited I would definitely use for my events – it really was a great trip.”
Simon Hunter, head of venue & brand at Chelsea Football Club, said: “The team and our partners for the event put a huge amount of work into ensuring this inaugural trip was a great success and that it really showcased the full offering here at Stamford Bridge and its proximity to some of London’s finest attractions. To hear such positive feedback is very gratifying and already we have received a number of very promising enquiries about hosting an event here. We’re planning to make this FAM trip a quarterly fixture in our calendar and look forward to working with more of London’s attractions to highlight and promote our wonderful city.”
