‘‘Work in venue-finding and events agencies is immensely fulfilling and helps anyone with hotel or venue experience to expand their skills and network,’’ was the advice shared by Juliet Price, consultant executive director of the HBAA, at a recent panel discussion on hospitality opportunities for students.
‘Spotlight on the Sectors’ was the name of the forum, held at the recent Passion4Hospitality event, held at the Novotel London West.
Price advised the audience that several larger booking agencies including Capita Travel and Events have flourishing graduate schemes and other work placement opportunities.
She added that hospitality professionals are well positioned to determine their career path, that diversity is strong in the sector and that there are limitless opportunities.
Chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality Peter Ducker, FIH, added: ‘‘Passion4Hospitality is the Institute of Hospitality’s flagship student and industry networking forum. Each year it gives hospitality students valuable contacts and information about the full breadth of our wonderful industry, which of course includes hotel and event booking agencies.”
The all-day programme of Passion4Hospitality included inspirational stories from hospitality leaders, speed networking and one-to-one careers advice, the student debating competition and the HOTS Business Game to successfully operate a virtual resort hotel.
