Conference Coventry and Warwickshire will be out in force at International Confex, at Olympia London 1–2 March, with stand partners Coombe Abbey Hotel, CoventryConferences, Culture Coventry, Manufacturing Technology Centre and Ricoh Arena, promoting the region as a location for conferences and events
Cllr Jim O’Boyle, Coventry City Council’s cabinet member for jobs and regeneration, said: “International Confex is a great opportunity for our conferencing team and partners to show the world what we know already – our region is a fantastic place to work, live and do business in. We’re in the centre of the country, so ideally placed for people to come and meet in the middle.
He added: the show was “perfectly placed to promote the city and its bid for UK City of Culture in 2021”.
Business tourism generated £23m for the local economy in 2015, the councillor noted and, he said, demonstrated the importance of profiling the region at trade shows such as International Confex.
The Coventry and Warwickshire partners will be on stand D38C and promise two days full of exciting activity including: coffee tasting by local supplier Shelton Coffee; lunch with Wasp player Guy Thompson; a drinks reception sampling Shakespeare’s Gin, alongside a caricaturist whose artistic flair has been used on a host of celebrities.
Chris Nagle, business development manager at the Manufacturing Technology Centre said: “This show is an exciting prospect for the MTC to showcase its conference, exhibition, event and meetings space to both UK and international buyers.
“As a relatively new venue to the marketplace the sense of place which comes with being partnered with Conference Coventry & Warwickshire; means we are instantly recognisable for our accessible and truly international location. The MTC is looking forward to engaging with visitors to the show, networking with industry colleagues and to exploring new opportunities.”
