Nominations for miaList 2017 now open

Nominations for the Meetings Industry Association’s (mia) prestigious and much anticipated miaList 2017 are now open.

The miaList recognises individuals who inspire those around them, go above and beyond the call of duty and play an instrumental role in making the organisation they work for so successful.

Calling out to the industry, Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia, said: “People have always been at the very heart of the meetings and events industry. Each year we look to celebrate those individuals who help make the UK meetings industry exceptional and showcase them as shining examples of excellence. Whether they are frontline facing or hidden away behind the scenes, we want to know about their extra enthusiasm and dedication that produces exceptional outcomes.”

Any person working within meetings, hospitality or events in the UK or Ireland is eligible for the miaList 2017, which is free to enter. However, the people nominating cannot nominate themselves.

A panel of seven industry stalwarts, who have been joined this year by sales performance specialist Mark Gallen, will assess nominations. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to attend a judging lunch, where they will meet with the panel and participate in interviews.

Categories for entries include: Conference and Events, Food and Beverage (Production), Food and Beverage (Service), Front of House, Sales, Marketing, Back of House, Leadership and the Team award.

The Leadership Award, which was secured last year by Leigh Jagger, chief executive officer of global event management agency Banks Sadler, is for an individual who is nominated by their colleagues, who is a great leader, inspires and engages their team and who has a positive impact on their business or department. The nominee should have at least three years’ experience of operating at executive level.

The Team Award is for teamwork that has had a positive impact on the team’s business. This award will be shortlisted by the judges and then subject to a public online vote.

The winners will be announced at the miaList lunch on Friday 6 October 2017 at Park Plaza Victoria, London.
