Barbican reports £1m a week in event enquiries

London’s Barbican is reporting receiving £1m of event enquiries each week of 2017, a figure on a par with its 2016 figures.

During 2016, £2.2m was invested into the facilities at the Barbican – Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue. A total of £644,000 alone was spent on refurbishing the Frobisher Suite and Level 4 of the venue.

Jackie Boughton, head of business events at the Barbican, says: “This significant investment in the facilities at the Barbican has increased the number of event enquiries over the last six months, especially in the international market.”

She added that, despite the uncertainty of the current climate, the level of enquiries promised a busy year ahead. “Whilst we appreciate that enquiries don’t always mean confirmed business, we are cautiously optimistic about the coming year, but and are conscious that we need to continue to be proactive in order to maintain market share.”

The Barbican achieved industry AIM Gold standard in 2014 and again in 2016 – a mark of excellence demonstrating the important traits of compliancy, competency and capability.

Barbican is Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue. Located in The City of London, it is capable of holding meetings from 10-2,000 delegates.
