Instead of a traditional ground-breaking ceremony for its new Events Suite, Tewkesbury Park invited three of its summer would-be brides to check out first-hand how the project is shaping.
The Gloucestershire venue’s general manager Patrick Jones said he was was keen to reassure the summer brides that the planned new suite where they have booked their wedding breakfast, will be completed by July 2017.
Suzanne Oriordan, Morgan Griffiths and April Parry all have booked wedding ceremonies in August 2017.
“I know such ceremonies are often attended by dignitaries like the local MP and corporates,” said Jones, “However, I wanted to invite our first wedding VIPs along, to show them the start of the construction. There was a lot of nervous excitement, but we were at pains to assure all three brides that it’s full steam ahead and the Events Suite will be completed on time.”
The new Events Suite is being created specifically for the conference and wedding market. It has a floor-to-ceiling glass façade and views across 163 acres of parkland and the Gloucestershire countryside beyond.
Childs+Sulzmann Architects are designing the facility as part of the £6m renovation project. In addition to the new Events Suite, the development includes an extension and refurbishment of the restaurant and the relocation of the golf club-house.
The latest construction phase follows a two-year £4m renovation earlier in the year, which saw the addition of nine luxury suites, two new spa rooms, two meeting rooms, an Orangery and a Cocktail Lounge. The main foyer and reception has been completely refurbished, along with the guestrooms.
Jones, added: “We are thrilled with the results so far, the hotel is undergoing a complete renaissance and has been brought back to the magnificent property it once was. The McIntosh Family who bought the hotel in 2014, are to be congratulated for having the vision and belief in its potential and staff.”
