mia to call for innovation and creativity

The Meetings Industry Association (mia) is to urge the sector to be creative and push ahead with innovative plans at its forthcoming conference.

Called ‘Don’t stop – rethink’, the full day event on 20 March at Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury will encourage the meetings, conference and events industry to take the lead and make the most of the current economic situation while empowering and equipping delegates with the tools to act on the commercial insight offered by the numerous sessions.

Trevor Williams, professor of economics and finance at Derby University and member of the Institute of Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee (SMPC), will open the conference, which is open to both members and non-members.

Bringing the insight directly back to the meetings, conferences and events industry, the conference will include an in-depth look at the current performance of the sector and the key trends thanks to the association’s insightful and powerful benchmarking tool: miaTouchstone.

Other dedicated plenary sessions delivered by industry experts and entrepreneurs will examine making the most of the opportunities offered post Brexit and safeguarding and security while the panel discussions will cover increasing conversions and revenue at little cost, attracting and retaining talent in the sector, procurement as well as the key emerging trends to look out for on social media.

Motivational speaker Richard Newman of specialist training company Body Talk will bring the conference to a close and ensure attendees leave feeling energised and inspired to implement creative solutions in the future.

Instead the mia is urging its members to use the commercial insights and trends presented at the conference to be bold and develop new and innovative plans to drive business growth.”
