Organisations from across the conference and events sector gathered at the 6th Annual Conference Summit for a day of presentations, networking and disruptive discussions.
Organised by the Global Conference Network (GCN) the Conference Summit was attended by 150 event industry leaders and suppliers and was opened by keynote speaker Phil Thomas, CEO of Ascential Events. He provided case study highlights from his company’s Cannes Lions event.
There was a lively debate involving Michael Westcott, co-founder and director of business development at Closer Still Media; Orson Francescone, vice-president at DMG Events – Global Energy and Nick Rapley, CEO at PCO Open Door Media. The subject: ‘The death of the paying delegate’ had Westcott concluding that “Events need to be of the community by the community and for the community”.
GCN co-founder Claire Wormsley is another believer in engaging the conference community. “We engage this community throughout the year through various events, and build this programme around the continuous conversations we have. The timely Conference Summit is a great opportunity for participants to review their business year, re-group and refresh for 2017.”
Entries for GCN’s flagship 2017 Conference Awards event are now open here.
