Mash Media successfully hosted a Christmas lunch at ExCeL London for elderly residents from homes and shelters across Newham on 13 December. Together with the team at ExCel London and Brand Events, over 350 guests were treated to full-on lunch, music and endless banter.
Recognising that loneliness can be a significant factor in the lives of elderly members of the local community, the three companies pooled together their collective resources to make a difference at this festive time of year.
The afternoon included a three course lunch, music, companionship and a big conga line for local elderly residents, supported by contributions and volunteers from partners including ExCeL London Hospitality (Leiths), Europcar, Agility, YSLV (visual solutions) Ways and Means, Oldacre Event Florists, Closer Still and the help of Newham-based charity, CFE (Community Food Enterprise) who coordinated the invitations to residents across the borough.
Julian Agostini, Mash Media’s managing director, said: “It has been a long-time ambition of mine (Mash’s) to unite the exhibition industry and create a Christmas experience for those that need it the most. This is surely the true spirit of Christmas and it was incredible to be able to bring that dream to fruition. I can’t thank ExCeL enough for helping us to host this special day and hope that we can make it bigger and better next year.”
Jeremy Rees, executive director at ExCeL London added: “At ExCeL, we take our responsibilities as a large local employer very seriously. We were delighted to be approached to host this lunch and work with these great companies to throw a fun party for elderly residents from across Newham. This lunch concludes a year in which we have also supported two local charities- NASSA (Newham All Stars Sports Academy) and CFE and created a Christmas campaign around charitable giving.”
