The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) has announced the re-appointment of Chris Skeith and Simon Hughes (pictured) as vice-chairs for a further two-year term.
Skeith will continue as BVEP treasurer and Hughes will continue to lead on BVEP’s co-ordination of issues arising from Britain’s eventual exit from the EU.
Welcoming the re-appointments, BVEP chair Michael Hirst, OBE, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Chris and Simon back for another two years. Both have played a major role in helping the BVEP to develop policies that promote the best interests of the events industry. As the government continues to grow its appreciation of the role events play in showcasing Britain and securing international trade opportunities, their continued contribution to the work of the partnership will be invaluable.”
Skeith, CEO at the Association of Event Organisers, said he was “delighted” to continue in the role of vice-chair in what he described as “exciting and challenging times for the industry”.
“The partnership has made great progress in putting business events on the national agenda and I’m looking forward to making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead. We’ve come a long way but, as ever, there’s still a lot to do,” Skeith added.
Hughes, founder of MCH Associates, said: “Brexit means that it is now even more important than ever to make sure the industry’s voice is heard. BVEP has a pivotal role to play in continuing to focus on the issues and opportunities that the people who work in our sector can bring to promoting UK plc. I’m very pleased to be part of this small but dynamic and influential team.”
The pair join Samme Allen and Caroline Jackson who continue in their roles as vice-chairs of BVEP.
