Venue caterer and hospitality company Searcys has appointed Matt Thomas as its new managing director. The appointment is effective from 1 November and he will oversee a handover period from the out-going MD, Chris Maddison.
Maddison joined Searcys in 2010 as sales and marketing director before moving into his current role in April 2014. He led the integration of Searcys following its acquisition by Westbury Street Holdings (WSH) for an undisclosed sum. He also guided an investment programme into Searcys venues, systems and people.
Alastair Storey, CEO of the WSH Group said: “I would like to thank Chris for his leadership over the last two years. Searcys is a remarkable brand with an exciting future. In Matt we have appointed an individual who will continue its growth and look to deliver excellence for its guests and partners.”
In the last three months Searcys has extended agreements with a number of its long-term partners including Allen & Overy, Vintners’ Hall, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Matt Thomas joins Searcys having held a number of positions within WSH and says: ‘This brand remains both timeless and elegant. I am excited by the future of Searcys and we will remain fully focussed on delivering wonderful food and great service, in iconic surroundings. We will also stay true to the values with which have long been held important, in turn caring for our teams and guests. It is these things and more that will allow us to realise our full potential in the years ahead.”
Searcys has teams across 29 venues which boast a combined turnover of £42m. They include The Barbican Centre, The Gherkin, Blenheim Palace and St Pancras Grand.
