Clinicians, doctors and medical experts from around the region are being invited to take part in a conference at Plymouth Science Park which will see presentations and discussions being beamed into the city from America.
Christian Jenkins, director of operations at Plymouth Science Park, said: “This is the second year that we have been hosting the TEDEX event, bringing together some of the region’s top health experts to discuss some of the developments in Medical Technology.
“We are using communication technology to reach an international audience of like-minded professionals to capture global initiatives in the field of medial research and healthcare delivery.”
The locally based Beacon Medical Group is hosting the event that is due to take place at the start of December. Organisers are expecting many experts to attend, from doctors to paramedics, pharmacists, designers and entrepreneurs.
The two-day conference will create a series of ‘hot topics’ and will use TEDMED2016 to engage with experts in California. There are a total of four sessions that people can attend over the two days. Subject areas will range from the social side of health through to innovations and the ageing process together with the treatment of rare diseases.
“TedMed is very popular and engages at a global level, it brings people together and opens up dialogues within the audience itself. It is particularly relevant as there are limited resources and increasing demands,” explains Paula Varndell-Dawes, executive director of Insightful Health Solutions. “It is unique for a GP practice, the Beacon Medical Group, to take on leadership for something on this scale.”
Each session can take up to 80 delegates.
The main speakers will be based in San Diego with a number of local experts able to comment on points raised in the conference.
The Beacon Medical Group is working in partnership with South West Academic Health Science Network, Insightful Health Solutions and the Devon Chamber of Commerce.
