Two new faces VisitScotland, and choose to stay

Scotland’s bid to win further UK and International Association business has received another boost with two new appointments to VisitScotland’s Associations & Sectors team.

Fiona MacKinnon joins the team as assistant manager. She will assist with bringing national and international association and corporate events to Scotland through the management of VisitScotland’s National Ambassador Network and relations with wider industry partners.

Patrick Lamont completes the enhanced VisitScotland Associations & Sectors team as its newly-appointed business events executive. Patrick will support VisitScotland’s strengthened team with targeted research and the implementation of activities to develop business opportunities for Scotland through the National Ambassador Network.

MacKinnon and Lamont join Sian Williamson, business events executive – Associations & Sectors, who has been recruited from within the VisitScotland Business Events team to help implement sales and marketing activities.

The newly-formed Associations & Sectors team is headed up by business development manager Rory Archibald. Welcoming the new appointments, he said: “With a team of four people now in place, we are in great shape to win even more Association business and take Scotland’s Association reputation to even greater heights.

“We have already begun a strategy of increased promotion at trade shows such as IMEX Frankfurt, IMEX America and IBTM Barcelona. And we have also launched an ambassador network – INNOVATETHENATION – to attract new partners to help us win business. Further initiatives are in the pipeline for the last quarter of this year and these latest appointments bring a wealth of experience to the team that makes the future look very exciting for Scotland and Association business.”
