Jo Lankester has been appointed interim managing director of White October Events, an events company known for running major technology conferences such as RenderConf and The Lead Developer.
Lankester moves across to the new role from sister company, White October, where she is creative director, to provide maternity cover for the company’s founder and managing director Ruth Yarnit.
Yarnit said: “White October Events couldn’t be in safer hands than Jo. We have worked together closely over the last three years to grow the company and she has made an invaluable contribution, especially to our branding and creative identity. She is a fantastic team player with a great intuition for our business.”
Lankester joined White October in 2012 and has been instrumental in shaping the company’s approach to design as an important part of any digital project.
As interim managing director, a key task will be to steer White October Events through some major new developments, including expansion into the US with The Lead Developer conference in New York next February.
The company has grown exponentially since it was founded in 2013 and now employs a team of five. Since 2014 annual turnover has grown by 700% and now stands at over £1m. Other flagship events the company runs in the digital sector include Angular Connect and SeleniumConfUK. In 2017 it is launching Ground Control, a conference for digital project managers.
