Gital Tete takes on COO role at Comic Con organiser MCM Central

Experienced events professional Gital Tete has been appointed chief operating officer of MCM Central, the firm behind the MCM London Comic Con and other pop culture shows across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. Already an MCM board member and non-executive director, Tete officially takes up the post on 1 January 2017.

“I did not have to think long before I accepted this challenge,” said Tete. “MCM Central is courageous, competent and has an unusually clear drive to create something new. I am looking forward to developing and expanding MCM’s modern pop culture portfolio, as well as some other really interesting opportunities.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Gital aboard our ever-growing team,” said MCM Central CEO Bryan Cooney. “I look forward to working alongside her as we work to further develop, expand and improve MCM’s award-winning roster of events both at home and abroad.”

Tete joins MCM following a stint as CEO of Rektorsakademien Utveckling, a Swedish firm focusing on digital learning in the education sector. Prior to that, she spent six years as business development manager at European exhibition organiser Artexis Easyfairs. She has also worked as head of events at Artexis Nordic, where she co-founded Sweden’s first ever gaming exhibition, GAMEX, and introduced Comic Con to Scandinavia.

MCM London Comic Con is the third largest Comic Con event in the world, attracting more than 130,000 visitors across its three-day run.
