New September EVCOM academy initiative

EVCOM has launched a new initiative focusing on practical, operational business skills for events and visual communication industry professionals, with a full day of bite-sized practical training sessions.

Taking place on 9 September at CentrEd at ExCeL (pictured), in association with Hiscox Event Assured, the association’s new academy day is designed to offer simple, take-away tools that can be applied to enhance professional and personal development.

Concentrating on four key topics, the first academy day will cover:

  • Procurement – your friend not your foe. Unwrapping the core themes procurement departments are looking for and enabling better understanding of their priorities as well as to design and create effective solutions in return.
  • Perfecting Presentation Technique. Providing the skills and confidence to pitch and present more effectively.
  • Unpicking the Proposal Process. How to successfully manage the proposal writing process, from initial contact through to delivery of a winning sales proposal.
  • Contracts and Brand Protection for the Creative Industries. A programme designed to help when dealing with contracts, copyright and the law.

The course is pitched at live events agencies, film production companies, digital agencies, venues, destination or other industry service providers.

A series of specialist clinics will also be running throughout the day and delegates will have the opportunity to speak with experts in the fields of employment law, regulatory issues, TOMS VAT, insurance and CSR.
