Bates brings over seven years of experience in marketing across the travel and arts industries, and joins VisitScotland from holidaycottages.co.uk (part of The Travel Chapter group) where she was marketing and partnerships manager.

Prior to that she was the marketing officer for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, one of Scotland’s five National Performing Companies. Bates is a graduate of the University of Manchester and also holds professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Speaking of her appointment, she said: “I’m delighted to have joined the VisitScotland Business Events team. Business Events is a key industry for Scottish tourism, generating an estimated £2bn annually for the economy.

“I’m really excited to come on board at this time, with our full calendar of marketing opportunities and planned new initiatives, and I look forward to playing my part in contributing to the continued success of Business Events in Scotland.”
