The Meetings Industry Association (mia) is to host a roundtable debate in October that will be attended by James Heappey MP, as part of a campaign to champion a better way for business.
Following his appearance at mia’s successful EU debate in May, the MP for Wells and chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events will be joined on the panel by a selection of industry stalwarts. The panel will discuss encouraging greater incentives for international corporations to hold meetings and conferences in the UK, as well as discussing initiatives to ensure freedom of movement and trade within the European Union remains.
Jane Longhurst, chief executive of mia, said: “We’re delighted that James Heappey will be once again joining the latest high-profile mia event. We know from our recent poll that the sector has been feeling the immediate impact of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.
“This is just one of our initiatives to help ensure all members are best equipped to maximise business opportunities and minimise the potential impact of Brexit going forward.”
