Lord’s hits a six after impressive package sales

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground, is celebrating a strong year of sales for its Test Match hospitality packages as the 2016 cricket season draws to a close.

In 2016 the most sought-after hospitality options at the ‘Home of Cricket’ were sold out on days one, two and three of both the England v Sri Lanka and England v Pakistan Investec Test Matches.

The iconic ground in St. John’s Wood also saw a sharp spike in revenue for its 2016 Sri Lanka Test Match hospitality packages compared with 2014 when the team last played England at Lord’s. Package sales in 2016 increased by 15% with revenues up 27% over the same period in 2014.

Daily Private Box sales were up by 24% over the same Test Match in 2014 with increased revenue of 60%.

Nick Kenton, MCC head of sales, meetings & events and hospitality said: “We are already seeing strong interest for next year’s hospitality packages before we have even released them. Thanks to the dedication and sheer hard work of our team, our hospitality guests enjoy an unforgettable and unique experience which leads to a high volume of repeat bookings.”

Lord’s plans to release new hospitality packages this autumn for major 2017 Test Matches including England v South Africa from 6-10 July and England v West Indies from 7-11 September. Demand is also expected to be particularly high for packages around the England v Ireland Royal London One-Day International on 7 May 2017.
