Events agency raises money in memory of fallen colleague

Events experience agency TRO has presented the East Anglian Air Ambulance with a cheque for £3,665.87.

The money was raised after a London to Paris cycling challenge in memory of late TRO employee Tom Gentle, who died in a tragic sailing accident in September 2015.

Gentle was both a keen sailor and cyclist, completing the London to Paris cycle ride in April 2015 with three TRO colleagues, narrowly missing their time target.

On 2 April 2016, Gentle’s memory was honoured when eight cyclists attempted to ride from London to Paris. The team, named L2P4TG in tribute to Gentle, beat their target by completing the ride in 22 hours, 40 minutes.

Continuing the tribute to Gentle’s love of endurance sport, two of the cyclists went on to run the Paris Marathon the following day, joined by an additional two members of the team.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance provided rapid response at the scene of Gentle’s tragic accident.

Holly Lambert, Area Fundraising Manager for The East Anglian Air Ambulance said: “The average mission cost is £3,500 and each mission could involve multiple patients so the donation from the TRO team to our charity will undoubtedly have a significant impact. We would like to extend thanks to all those involved in the L2P4TG challenge.”

An additional £3,665.87 was also raised for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
