CT acquires specialist event tech business The Wireless Works

International event technology provider for the events sector, Creative Technology (CT), has announced the acquisition of The Wireless Works, a specialist event service business based in Godalming, delivering radio communications, intercom and data services to the broadcast and live event markets.

Founded in 2002 by Tristian Bickerton, The Wireless Works has operated alongside CT at many major events including Wimbledon, Glastonbury and the Olympic Games.

The launch of CT’s Integrated Networks division has created new opportunities, the company says, in an increasingly complex and core area of technical event delivery.

In the immediate future The Wireless Works business will continue to operate just as it has for the last 15 years from its premises in Godalming, with Bickerton as managing director.

Next year the companies will expand into larger premises in Crawley and Wireless Works will be fully merged into the CT business when Bickerton will assume a more focused sales and business development role.

“I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved over the last 15 years since I founded the firm. We have developed a unique position in a highly specialist sector,” said Bickerton. “As we start a new chapter in the life of this company, I am excited about the future and the opportunities we share together.”

Dave Crump, CT’s CEO for Europe and the Middle East added: “We have known Tristian for many years; he worked at CT prior to forming The Wireless Works and we have worked closely together ever since… We are a highly respected specialist business, combining the best people with latest technology to deliver the highest quality and most innovative audio visual and associated services to an enviable client base. The Wireless Works will further strengthen that offering and our position.

“The Wireless Works name will be retained for the time being as it is believed to add value to the company’s position and recognition in the market.”
