American Express GBT appoints new CEO to drive growth

Industry veteran Doug Anderson has joined American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) as CEO.

The agency said Anderson, who has 30 years of global management experience, would be charged with accelerating the company’s growth plans.

“With new technology offerings and the opportunity to continue to expand GBT’s footprint, the company is on a clear path towards unparalleled success. I am honoured to lead the organisation on this journey,” Anderson said.

The agency was spun from American Express two years ago.

“We have assembled an unparalleled team of top industry talent, and Doug is the right leader to continue the great momentum we’ve seen with GBT to date,” said Greg O’Hara, chairman of the board, American Express GBT.

And the chairman said the team was backed by “substantial investment, with a focus on the future”.

“Our infrastructure transformation is nearing completion and our M&A activity is ramping up quickly,” O’Hara added. “We are making and will continue to make sweeping technology investments to support our customers’ ever evolving requirements.”

“In many ways, we’re just getting started,” O’Hara added. “Having a well respected travel industry leader like Doug as CEO to drive the operations of our business, will help us continue to accelerate this pace.”

American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) employs 12,000 staff in over 100 countries.
