Industry stars come out at Olympia for Macmillan and Breast Cancer Now

The great and the good of the industry are set to gather at Olympia London on 7 July for the second annual Network Under the Stars event.

The evening, which is designed to champion and support women in the industry, will feature mentoring, speed networking and four motivational keynotes followed by cocktails classes, beauty treatments and a silent disco.

Among the keynote speakers are Harriet Minter, head of The Guardian’s Professional Women in Leadership Initiative and Fay Sharpe, a founding shareholder of event management company Zibrant and driving force behind the Fast Forward initiative for women in the events industry.

Network Under the Stars is the brainchild of Reed Exhibitions’ group operations manager Jennifer Booth, who teamed up with International Confex, Ways & Means Events, Olympia London, LiveBuzz, Freeman and London Book & Screen Week to bring to life the women-only event.

“After the resounding success of last year’s event we are so excited to be bringing Network Under the Stars back to Olympia,” said Liz Agostini, event director for International Confex. “We have really ramped up the content programme this year to provide some top-notch educational, inspirational and mentoring activities.

“This is not just about an evening of informal networking and fun but also a fantastic opportunity for women working in events to meet some of the most inspiring figures in our industry and throw the spotlight on serious debate and personal development.”

All profits from Network Under the Stars will be divided equally between charities Breast Cancer Now and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Julie Holland, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We are so happy to have the support of the events industry with a fantastic industry sleepover to raise money and awareness of Macmillan Cancer Support.

“No one should have to face cancer alone and the support from the industry will help us be there for people and their families when they need us most.”
