Ashfield Meetings & Events, the global agency specialising in serving the healthcare sector, has welcomed four new students to its university placement scheme.
The scheme, now in its fifth year, provides undergraduates with the opportunity to blend their educational theory with vocational insight and experiences through a year-long work placement. The agency says the scheme also allows it to strengthen relationships with academic institutions offering event management degrees.
Ashfield had shortlisted candidates to attend an assessment centre in May. Subsequently, four students were chosen.
Anna Bowman (University of Gloucester), Rebecca Crabbe (Sheffield Hallam University) and Amber Holgate (Oxford Brookes University) join the agency as project executives, while Joe McLoughlin (University of Lancashire) joins as marketing assistant.
The students started on 4 July with a week-long induction programme at the agency’s UK headquarters.
Helen Capelin, the agency’s head of operational excellence, said: “We have just completed the fourth year of our placement scheme and have said goodbye, but not farewell, to our most recent set of undergraduates. The students joining us this week are incredibly enthusiastic and excited about joining our agency and industry. Following their induction we will be looking to provide them with experiences and opportunities that will help demonstrate the realities of a future career in event management.”
In addition to the new recruits, Ashfield has recently welcomed back previous placement student Alex Gee as project executive.
