Southport Conferences unveils five-point pledge for business extension

Following discussions on the partnership between venues, destinations and buyers at the International Confex Association Event Forum earlier this year, Southport Conferences has this week unveiled a five-point pledge for planners and delegates to better take advantage of the opportunities presented by business extension.

The destination aims to use the charter to continue dialogue with planners and gain more intelligence on how business extension can benefit clients’ businesses, as well as destinations and venues.

The pledge includes:
1.         Encouraging total engagement
2.         Maximising delegate conversion
3.         Creating financial opportunities
4.         Enhancing social itineraries
5.         Ensuring quality, safety and security

“It has been very powerful to be able to openly discuss how business extension can become a source of growth for association meetings,” says Sammi Rudge, business tourism officer at Southport Confetences. “We hope that the charter and the wider debate will offer greater insight into the opportunity that business extension presents to event organisers as well as destinations and venues.”
