Manchester Central nurtures talent through student placement scheme

Manchester Central is preparing to welcome a new student team member for the fifth consecutive year, as part of its ongoing partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Event management students have been learning  on-the-job skills from the venue team of professionals since 2012.

Around 70 students apply for the position each year, looking to put their theoretical experience into practice and gain an insight into the events industry.

The salaried 48-week placement provides one successful candidate with the opportunity to learn from Manchester Central’s team and gain experience in planning and delivering events.

All of the students that have completed the placement are now in full-time event-related employment.

Angie Robinson, CEO of Manchester Central, said: “We are so proud of the students that have worked alongside us and the talent we have nurtured through this placement scheme; two of our mentees are now employed by Manchester Central and the third is putting their experience into practice at a leading events agency.

“The industry is always calling out for talent and we’re keen to continue growing and developing our already highly experienced team of professionals while cultivating the next wave of events up-and-comers.”
