Excel London has appointed a new executive director, Paul Brindley (pictured). He succeeds James Mark who has been with the venue since its launch in 2000 and is leaving to take on a consulting role in the events industry.
Mark oversaw all services provided by Excel and helped deliver the 2012 Olympics in the venue, headed the commercial partnerships, catering and media teams and led the transformation of the venue’s food and drink offering.
Brindley most recently worked as global business development and key account director with Travelex, developing its commercial scope across 98 airports. He has a background in business leadership and marketing with Heathrow Airport, Heathrow Express, Unilever and a number of major consumer brands.
David Pegler, Excel London CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul as part of our senior management team. His experience of transforming business processes and enhancing customer journeys will add value for all of Excel’s customers and enhance our world-leading visitor experience.”
Brindley said he was excited to be joining Excel. “I look forward to working in partnership with event organisers and exhibitors to develop solutions which create value for all stakeholders, increase attendance and help achieve the great event outcomes for which Excel is renowned,” he said.
