Grassroots training has always played an integral role in the hospitality sector, it’s essential for succeeding in a practical environment. In my experience, you need to empower your team members to operate and manage to the best of their ability, in any situation. This can’t be learnt purely from textbooks but through dedicated training and mentoring too.
At Hotel Football, we pride ourselves on finding a balance within the team between hiring those with vast industry experience and recruiting students and apprentices. There is a huge pool of talent out there that hasn’t yet had the chance to dip a toe into the world of hospitality.
With this in mind, we actively source talented employees through grassroots programmes and training apprenticeships, and work with institutions such as Manchester Metropolitan University and Trafford College to provide regular work experience. We’ve invited students to come into Hotel Football for practical experience as part of their Hospitality Management degree, employed three apprentices and committed to the ‘Trafford Pledge’, guaranteeing 15% of our workforce comes from the local area.
It has been a long standing belief of mine that people are at the heart of a successful business and this is a value that our team at Hotel Football puts into practice every day, offering training and employment to nurture the next generation as they progress through their careers.
This investment in grassroots training continues to reap its benefits, ensuring we consistently deliver award-winning service and go above and beyond to give guests a completely unique experience.
