Venues in one of the UK’s dynamic economic powerhouses, the Thames Valley, now have a new platform to market their meetings wares following the launch of Exclusively Thames Valley (www.exclusivelythamesvalley.co.uk).
The website aims to cover venues, experiences and activities in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey and was set up by Maxine MacPherson, MD of Marlow-based sales and marketing agency AbleMaxx. She says she launched the project because she was “amazed” the market had no resource specifically showcasing the Thames Valley to the MICE industry.
She tells CN: “It has been apparent, living and working in the Thames Valley, that no-one is marketing the region as a viable meetings and incentive destination. Suppliers have been supportive of the project, keen to have a central platform where they can promote their own venues and services.”
She claims that, hitherto, buyers had nowhere to turn for a resource aimed solely at the meetings and incentive industry. MacPherson says “a number have signed up already to the site, but that the goal for the year “is to increase membership levels and grow the amount of events where [venues] can showcase themselves to corporate event planners across the UK and eventually overseas”.
“When you consider the sheer volume of event and meetings activity going on here, I wanted to give the industry one place to go for a unique look at the well-known venues, the hidden treasures and the great event experiences available in the Thames Valley,” she adds.
Cliveden House is one of the area’s venues among the first to sign up to the new site, which MacPherson insists is different to other online resources for MICE buyers.
“Rather than just give buyers information they can easily find elsewhere, we want to give them an insight into these amazing venues and activities – tell them stories they might not know, really bring these venues to life and highlight what they have to offer. We have a great core of members now, with more coming on board all the time.”
