Hybrid solution keeps Inntel on track with new rail client win

Colas Rail Ltd, a division of the Colas Group, has appointed booking agency Inntel to manage its multi-million pound account.

Colas is a provider of rail infrastructure services and has appointed Inntel to partner in the management of its accommodation, travel and meetings requirements.

The agency proposed the use of iCentral, its online booking tool as a way of making savings for Colas Rail and was selected without the need of a full RFP process, as Inntel’s director of business development Jane Dibble explains: “We were selected primarily for our tailored response but also our knowledge and understanding of the industry, as we have multiple large rail clients who we have worked with and built up long-lasting relationships.

“Colas Rail had a clear vision from the outset, they did not want a full TMC (Travel Management Company) as previous experiences had taught them they could often achieve better rates booking direct, and as such, wanted to bring all bookings in-house. Our solution was to provide them with full access to iCentral, enabling them to make all bookings internally, with the added support and expertise from Inntel.”

Raj Neelakantan, head of procurement at Colas Rail, confirmed the appointment.

“Bringing bookings in-house and having our own dedicated team of bookers will allow us to streamline the whole booking process, and having Inntel’s expertise and knowledge of our industry will be a tremendous benefit.

Furthermore, we now have access to Inntel’s discounted rail industry hotel rates which will help us to reduce our costs.”
Colas consultants will be trained on the iCentral system, Neelakantan added.

Inntel MD Douglas O’Neill said he was delighted to welcome his new client on-board.

“I’m thrilled Colas Rail have appointed Inntel to guide them through what is a hugely significant change in their organisation, and I’m sure we will form a great partnership that exceeds expectations.”
