115 buyers attend 2016 ibtm arabia pod format in Abu Dhabi

One hundred and fifteen buyers came to ibtm arabia this year “to eat, meet and play under one roof”, said organiser Reed Exhibitions’ show manager Shinu Pillai.
The show, which this year is taking place in Jumeirah Etihad Towers hotel, 10-11 February, included a pre-show Discovery Day, with delegates and exhibitors taken to Ferrari World and on a sightseeing tour of the city.
The idea, said Pillai, was “to build a community for the three days”.
All buyers were new to the event this year and took part in a mutual matchmaking appointment system.
Sixty percent of the buyers were international, said Pillai, with 40% coming from the Gulf and Middle East region.
Reed’s ibtm portfolio director Sallie Coventry, said the intention still was to grow the event in the region and noted Saudi Arabia and Morocco had exhibitors for the first time. “This event is all about exclusivity,” Coventry added. “We know who we want to come. We are not trying to copy a big trade show.”
Attendees had two networking evenings, at The Emirates Palace and The Beach Rotana hotels, while speaker and author Carol Talbot shared thoughts on NLP techniques on the Discovery Day.
