New hires at fresh Group reflect agency’s growth strategy

Cheshire-based creative events agency fresh Group has announced two key appointments to its new business and digital teams, following what the company calls “a year of success in new sectors” and new contracts in the pharma and automotive sectors.

Ruth Downs joins the new business team as business development manager this month. She joins from McCann Ericsson, has previous experience at TRO, and has worked with clients including Diageo and Nike over a 12-year career.

fresh MD Patrick Howells says of the appointment: “We pride ourselves on our new business track record and the standard of our pitches,” adding that it was important to find a candidate that could offer the potential to work across a wide range of projects and clients.

“Ruth really demonstrated her ability to build relationships and contribute to the high standards we set ourselves,” Howells added.

The in-house digital team has been bolstered, meanwhile, with the appointment of Gemma Illidge, who joins from BJL as digital account director. She has worked with clients such as Asda and Aldi and, as a senior lead within the fresh digital team Gemma, will lead the strategy and creative elements of a variety of both standalone digital projects and the digital elements of full-service events and communications projects from pitch stage to live delivery.

The fresh Group is best known for its work in the retail and financial sectors and the agency has delivered new projects recently within the automotive, pharmaceutical and public sectors, including with Hyundai and Abbott Vascular.
