Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham’s conference and events team has scored December 2015 as its best ever month of business.
Edgbaston welcomed 6,676 guests at its 80s themed Christmas party nights in December, the figures representing an increase of 20% in comparison to 2014. In total the venue hosted 28 Christmas parties, with five shared party events and 23 private functions.
Maria Clune, head of conference and event sales at the venue, said: “The stadium was able to accommodate more than 1,000 guests at five different Christmas parties on one particular night.
“The 1980s Christmas theme has been a huge success and we’ve received some great feedback. We are already working with many of our delegates that attended to produce a similar event in the height of summer.”
Warwickshire County Cricket Club last week announced 2014/15 as a record financial year for the club with year-on-year turnover increased by 47% to £18.3m. The results have led to Edgbaston making two new appointments within its conference and events team, with Lucy Harper joining as a sales executive and Lisa Durrant joining as sales co-ordinator.
Edgbaston’s conference and events business was remodelled in 2011 following a £32m redevelopment of the stadium, which created new conference and event space capable of accommodating 600 guests, as well as smaller hospitality boxes that cater for meetings with 24 guests.
