Chris Criscione, managing director of exhibition design and build company Equinox Design, has taken up the position of vice-chair of the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA). He will work with current chair, Andrew Kennedy of Perton Signs, and will assume the chair at the end of 2016 when Kennedy steps down.
Kennedy welcomed Criscione to his new role. “I am delighted that Chris has taken up the position of vice-chair. We have worked together in the industry association arena before and I’m pleased that he will be bringing his knowledge, experience and insight to the role. I know that Chris has had the good of the industry at heart, and the supplier community in particular, and I’m looking forward to working with him again as we strive to help ESSA grow and develop.”
Criscione began his career in 1971, and in 1993 he and partner Jim Reilly founded Equinox Design. Based in Leeds the company has steadily grown, delivering stands for major blue chip clients around the world, with over 80% of its work being delivered internationally.
Criscione outlined his intentions for his new role at ESSA, saying: “I have a firmly held belief in the benefit of a strong industry association. ESSA has shown itself to be capable of working with all of the other parts of our industry to develop tangible benefits for its members. However, we continue to face challenges in an increasingly global market, and I intend to use my experience and knowledge to ensure ESSA continues to push forward positive values. This is my way of putting something back into the industry for the fantastic career it has given me.”
Criscione replaces Simon Ridout of Dimension 8, who was the previous vice-chair.
