Events turnover at RIBA Venues, the conference and events arm of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), has accelerated by more than a fifth this year. According to figures released 8 December, there was a 21% increase in events at the venue in 2015 and a 22% increase in turnover from them, when compared to 2014.
The venue hosted 795 events between January and December 2015. The extra events produced a 17% increase in profit, which goes back into the RIBA charity.
The best way to a corporate delegate appears to be through the stomach: RIBA is reporting a 69% increase in corporate dinners, a 45% increase in awards dinners and a 20% increase in conferences.
Head of venues Stephanie Ellrott said: “After a strong start to the year we did not expect this level of growth to continue throughout the year.
“We have worked rigorously to improve our service levels, built a strong sales team, concentrated on strong proactive sales activities and ventured into niche markets.”
In 2016 RIBA Venues will upgrade its AV facilities, and hopes to boost its summer party business with its outside roof terrace which hosts up to 150 people.
