QEII Centre signs up International Marine Purchasing Association until 2027

The International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) has extended its existing deal and will bring its annual London conference to the Queen Elizabeth II Centre from 2017 to 2027.

IMPA London was first hosted at the QEII Centre in 2012 and the two-day event returned in September for its fourth year at the Westminster venue.

IMPA London attracts more than 2,000 decision-makers in purchasing and supply from 72 countries and 25 maritime sectors.

The new contract follows the summer refurbishment of the QEII Centre, part of its £12m renovation and rebranding project.

This summer’s works included a new centre-wide lighting infrastructure, new static and digital signage systems, reconfiguration of rooms, a renovated front canopy and new luxury conference furniture.

The IMPA London event occupies Level 3 of the QEII Centre, with rooms on Level 4 used for breakouts.

Speaking about the new 10-year deal, IMPA COO Stephen Alexander said: “The IMPA annual conference is attended by representatives from 72 countries and it takes a prestigious venue like the QEII Centre to provide a professional business environment in the heart of London. QEII is distinguished from other London venues by the outstanding performance demonstrated by its staff… We are looking forward to spending another 10 years working with this fantastic venue and its team.”

Diane Waldron, QEII Centre’s sales and marketing director, added: “The International Maritime Purchasing Association has held three very successful events here at the QEII Centre and this year’s conference was even bigger and better than before. We are delighted that the association has extended its contract with us to 2027. Long-term partnerships like this are extremely valuable to us and we look forward to working with IMPA to help them make the most of our newly improved facilities.”
