O2 reappoints Sledge with two-year events contract extension

Telecoms giant O2 has reappointed the Sledge agency to design, develop and produce all of their large events in the UK.

Sledge has held the account for the last 11 years and the new contract is for a further two years. The contract extension follows a competitive pitch including multiple rounds.

The scope of the new contract will include all large events – internal and external, the management of areas at The O2 Arena, rugby sponsorship activations and corporate events including conferences, award ceremonies, CSR activations and other partnership activations such as O2’s involvement with the NSPCC.

Sledge CEO Nic Cooper, said: “We have a brilliant relationship with O2 that has been built over the last decade, but it was a competitive pitch so the re-appointment certainly wasn’t a given.

“This appointment strengthens our belief that long-term relationships are extremely beneficial for everyone; the agency develops a fuller understanding of the client, the organisation and the brand so they feel like a natural extension of the team. There’s also an understanding of what has been achieved before and what will be well received, so no time is wasted in putting ideas forward that will never work. A solid relationship also creates a higher level of trust, so the agency knows which way the boundaries can be pushed in order to develop some truly amazing events.”
