ISES founding father to open Accelerate Conference in May 2016

The International Special Events Society (ISES)’s Accelerate Conference next May is to be opened by Professor Joe Goldblatt, the society’s founding president 28 years ago.

The three-day conference will be held at Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium on 13 May 2016, with an opening party taking place at the Ministry of Sound on the evening of the 12 May.

It will be the first year where ISES members and event professionals can enter the inaugural Accelerate Awards, with gongs to be given out at the Ministry of Sound evening.

ISES EMEA chair James Morgan tells CN: “Accelerate was a great success last year, with speakers and attendees visiting London from around the world. I’m looking forward to another great three-day conference. The theme ‘Disruption Fuels Creativity’ is going to blow some of our established ideas and practices out of the water, so watch this space.”

Professor Goldblatt holds the only professorial chair in Events Management in the world and his research career has produced 35 books on the wider events subject.

The afternoon keynote on 13 May will be delivered by Nicole Yershon, director of digital innovation from the global advertising group Ogilvy and Mather. The society says it will announce more sessions and speakers in January 2016.

The conference, which attracted 176 delegates this year and targeting 250 next spring, culminates with the central London venue walking tour on 14 May. Event professionals will have an opportunity to see some of the venues in Westminster and South Bank.
