VisitScotland, ISES and IMEX Group to bring Global Event Summit to Edinburgh

VisitScotland’s Business Events division, The International Special Events Society (ISES) and the IMEX Group have formed a powerful troika to drive the first Global Event Summit, to be launched next year.

Details of the summit, scheduled to take place in April 2016, were announced on the first day of IMEX America in Las Vegas (13 October). It will involve senior event professionals from North America and Europe attending IMEX in Frankfurt before heading on to Scotland for three days of high-level debate.

Jodi Collen CSEP, international president of ISES, said: “We are very excited to be announcing the launch of the first ever Global Event Summit. This is set to be a landmark event in 2016 and we are very grateful for the support of our valued partners, IMEX Group and VisitScotland.”

The summit will be held in Edinburgh, and include trips to Scotland’s largest City, Glasgow, home of the SSE Hydro, host to MTV Europe Awards in 2014, as well as Gleneagles Resort, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Head of business events at VisitScotland, Neil Brownlee, added: “This event perfectly matches our desire for Scotland to be at the very heart of the global event industry. Scotland is the perfect stage for events of all shapes and sizes. We have a highly valued and active relationship with both ISES and IMEX and are delighted to be hosting this significant event during the Year of Innovation, Architecture & Design in 2016.”

Carina Bauer, IMEX Group CEO said: “We have been working with ISES for a number of years across both our shows. We are delighted to be cementing that relationship further by partnering with this important new ISES event in Europe.

“We are also looking forward to exposing new, high profile buyers to the benefits of our Frankfurt tradeshow and hope that they and their teams will derive great benefit from the combination of our events.”
