MPI UK&I has announce the fifth MPI Vanessa Cotton Scholarship, created in honour of the late UK event industry veteran Vanessa Cotton.
The scholarship was created to recognise the industry’s brightest and most ambitious students, graduating from event management degrees and supporting their first step in to the meetings and events sector.
Judges this year include Sallie Coventry of ibtm events, Jane Hague from Excel London, Robert Quayle from AstraZeneca, Fay Sharpe from Zibrant, Viki Stapleton from Schroders, Karen Walters from Eventful Connections, and Olivier Vallee from 2Heads.
The MPI Vanessa Cotton Scholarship, which jointly sponsored by Excel London and ibtm events will award at least one student an all-expenses paid trip to EMEC, the MPI European Meetings and Events Conference, to be held in Copenhagen on the 7th to 9th February 2016.
“Vanessa was one of the founder members of the UK and Ireland Chapter of MPI,” said Jane Baker, President Elect of the MPI UK&I Chapter. “This scholarship is a superb opportunity for the next generation of event planners currently studying at university to engage with the industry. In Vanessa’s memory we are rewarding a student who has demonstrated outstanding communication skills and a strong desire for personal development and will be announcing and inviting the winner of the scholarship to ibtm world on November 17th.”
“Excel is delighted to continue to support the Vanessa Cotton Scholarship” said Jane Hague, Excel London. “This scholarship without fail attracts talented individuals who are willing to go the extra mile to network and ultimately find employment in our sector. Being shortlisted is a great CV booster”.
“Vanessa’s contribution to the industry is well known,” said Graeme Barnett, senior exhibition director, ibtm world. “At Reed she was actively involved in our engagement strategy with new generations and a huge supporter of young talent. This scholarship, now in its fifth year, is a fitting tribute.”
