Marketing Liverpool hosted a VIP delegation of 38 VisitBritain executives, 14 October in the city ahead of the annual VisitBritain Insights seminar VIBE North, being held on 15 October at the Maritime Museum.
The group, who’s members have travelled from as far afield as Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro, will experience many of the local delights on a city region familiarisation trip.
Councillor Wendy Simon, the city’s Labour Cabinet Minister for Culture and Tourism, welcomed the group at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel in the city centre.
The VisitBritain representatives are also hearing from Liverpool John Lennon Airport on its expansion plans and new route strategy, with particular emphasis on long-haul markets.
Chris Brown, director of Marketing Liverpool, said: “We heartily welcome our colleagues from VisitBritain to our vibrant city for a taste of our wonderful tourism offering and to meet with our many tourism partners and stakeholders, all of which will continue to grow our partnership work and promote the Liverpool message in key international markets.”
VIBE is the one of two travel trade events, which will hosted by the city over the next six months and is a pre-cursor to ExploreGB, VisitBritain’s flagship event, which offers tourism businesses the chance to meet and do business with 300 of the most high-profile travel operators from around the world.
ExploreGB will be at the ACC Liverpool 3-4 March 2016.
