Global event management platform, Cvent, has announced, 28 October, its inaugural bookers’ list of the top 25 cities for meetings and events in Europe, with London coming out as the number one destination.
The top 25 were put together according to booking activity through the Cvent Supplier Network. Featuring 234,000 hotels, resorts and special event venues, the Cvent Supplier Network, is a database of venue information. More than 2,500 cities in Europe were surveyed in compiling the list, with activity tracked from July 2014 to June 2015.
The top five meetings and events destinations were London, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.
David Chalmers, European marketing director at Cvent, said: “Destinations and venues are working in tandem to be more attractive to event organisers to retain and grow group business, which is an important economic driver, and for venues often generates more profitable revenue.”
The ranking was determined by a set of qualifying criteria, consisting of:
· Unique Request for Proposals Received
· Total Room Nights Requested in RFPs
· Awarded Request for Proposals
· Awarded Room Nights
· Percentage of Qualified Meeting Venues
· Number of Profile Views
The director of business tourism and major events at London & Partners, the official convention bureau for the city, Tracy Halliwell MBE, said: “We are delighted that London has been named the number one meeting destination in Europe by Cvent. This has been a great year for the city with amazing events including the European Society of Cardiology’s congress held at London’s Excel.”
