Belfast Waterfront has signed a three-year contract with Ulster University to host its Summer Graduation Ceremonies.
The new deal runs until summer 2018.
Ruth Wasson, director of student administration at Ulster University, said: “Graduation Ceremonies are the pinnacle of our students` academic year, and there`s no better place in Belfast to celebrate the tremendous efforts of our students, than at Belfast Waterfront. Moreover, it is the only provider with the capacity and resources to accommodate 9,000 graduates and guests attending six consecutive ceremonies with ease”
“The venue more than meets our needs. However next year, having access to extra clear span space means registration, gown issue and photography can be set up within one area creating a seamless process. And extra catering facilities will allow graduates to stay longer for lunch and enjoy the stunning riverside views. During the past 17 years, we have built a fantastic relationship with the Waterfront staff, who know our requirements inside and outside and how best to serve to them”
Fabulous venue, riverside location and a track record of delivering ceremonies like clockwork have seen Ulster University return to Belfast Waterfront. And this year was no different, the 2015 Summer Graduations were perceived as a huge success.
Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund are financially supporting the new Waterfront development, which will bring an additional 4,000m2, to a tune of £29.5m.
The new facility will house two interconnecting multipurpose halls spanning over 2,500m2, 3 large meeting rooms, each accommodating up to 200 delegates, 2 exterior terraces with riverside views and a new dedicated riverside entrance leading to a 660m2 reception area.
Barrie McQuillan, Venue Events Manager at Belfast Waterfront stated: `We`re delighted to see the return of the Ulster University, one of our most prestigious clients. This long-term customer relationship is a strong testament of our commitment to delivering the best possible service.`
Belfast Waterfront is also home to the South Eastern Regional College (SERC) and The Open University graduation ceremonies.
