The Belfry Hotel & Resort, in Warwickshire, excelled over some of the country’s finest hotels to be named England’s Leading Resort at this year’s World Travel Awards. The WTA were held this year in Forte Village, Sardinia, on 5 September in front of an audience of 250 industry leaders.
InterContinental London Park Lane picked up England’s Leading Conference Hotel, while the WTA named Europe’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination as Barcelona and the continent’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre as ICC Berlin.
St Petersburg claimed the title of Europe’s Leading Destination and Lufthansa Leading Airline in Europe for a fifth consecutive year.
Gail Webb, marketing director at The Belfry, said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award and would like to thank everyone who voted for us.” The venue has over 20 conference and event spaces.
The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 and Lorenzo Giannuzzi, chief executive and GM of the host venue, Forte Village, said: “It was a great pleasure for Forte Village to host the World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony 2015.”
All the winners from the Europe Gala Ceremony will now move forward to the WTA Grand Final at Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, El Jadida, Morocco, on 12 December.
The Belfry Hotel & Resort, meanwhile, will be hoping for more glory at The World Golf Awards in November where the venue is up for England’s Best Golf Hotel and England’s Best Golf Course.
