Education is to be at the forefront of marketing of the the UK and Ireland Chapter of Meetings Professional International (MPI), as the association launches a major schedule of events.
Chapter president Richard Parker said: “At our annual strategic meeting, the board was unanimous in its commitment to leveraging stand out education and networking as a point of differentiation in a crowded association marketplace. We believe that the breadth and depth of our education events programme provides content that is relevant current and insightful. We also believe that this is the most appropriate channel for existing and future members to engage positively with MPI.”
MPI’s new vice-president of communications Chris Parnham, added that the new programme had something for everyone. “This varied and packed programme spotlights MPI’s unique position as education and information specialists to the meetings industry. We have crafted a number of different types of event, in order to tune into the needs into the needs of all our potential audiences. If you want to become a better event professional, you need to be engaged with MPI.”
The association is to run campfire events lasting 30 minutes with a tight focus and larger ‘Insight’ meetings for up to 100 attendees over a half-day. These will take place in October, January and June.
Another type of meeting will be the ‘Talkable’ events which will be focused discussions over dinner concentrating on creativity, talent, design and competitiveness in the industry.
CMP Bootcamp events will be two-day intensive training courses covering 10 knowledge domains.
Association education VP Jackie Mulligan added: “The programme offers a full year of professional development for our members supported by online resources to deepen the learning. As well as gaining new insights, approaches and high-level information, participants also get a chance to meet with others with similar interests and connect with new contacts.”
The next Insights event takes place at Emirates Stadium in London, 29 October, and will focus on international business for corporates and agencies seeking to expand into new markets.
