An event marketing agency is taking to the road to teach would-be students how to find funding.
Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) is taking the government’s Student Finance tour on the road for the fifth year running, educating students and parents across England on the financial support available for those wanting to go to university so they can make more informed choices.
This year has seen an increase in demand for the events from schools and colleges due to the reputation of the tour over the past four years and reflecting the changes announced in the recent budget that will impact how students pay for courses.
EMS will train 30 presenters to deliver more than 2,000 events, engaging around 150,000 students and their parents on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation & Skills. Focusing in particular on known low-participation areas, the 11-week tour kicks off on 21 September 2015.
Five presenters from 2014 will remain for the new tour, taking mentoring roles. EMS has already started to attract a further 25 new recruits to the team, which it will then take through an intensive three-day training programme so they can act as ambassadors for the brand.
The events will reflect the same successful peer-to-peer format to previous years, focusing on combining fact-based content with personal experiences, delivered from presenters who have been through university themselves.
Gemma Edney, head of client services at EMS said: “Face-to-face, peer-to-peer communication proves time and time again to be a winning formula, which is testament to us securing the contract for the fifth year. 2015 will be particularly powerful as our presenters are part of the first cohort to pay up to £9,000 in fees. They will be able to give a first-hand account of their experiences, so the message strongly resonates with perspective students.”
EMS has been working with the Department for Business Innovation & Skills on its Student Finance Tour since 2011. So far it has educated around 716,087 students and parents.
