Barbican history in the spotlight

A world-famous venue is putting its history centre stage.

Delegates and clients will be given the opportunity to learn about the Barbican in London with packages created by the business events team.

The tours, available throughout the year, cost £11.50 per person and can be fitted in and around events to suit delegate timetables.

There are two choices of tours:

Architecture Tour – A 90-minute walking tour of the Barbican to discover the history behind the building and the surrounding Barbican Estate, considered one of London’s best examples of Brutalist architecture.

Backstage Tour – A 75-minute tour discovering the unseen backstage spaces of the landmark Barbican Theatre.

Oliver Hargreaves, Barbican’s deputy head of sales, said: “The tours are very popular and they offer something a little different for event organisers,” comments. “The Barbican is completely unique, and the story of its fascinating history leaves delegates with a real sense that they have been a part of something quite special. The tours are a great way to inspire and give delegates an engaging activity alongside the event that they are attending.”
