An academic venue is hoping to snare agency business with a cooking challenge.
Warwick Conferences will vie for agents’ business by hosting an interactive cooking event, as part of the Hotel Booking Agents Association Big Site Visit.
The event will take place on 3 September, and will feature a format inspired by cooking programmes ‘Masterchef’ and ‘Sunday Brunch’.
During the event agents will be invited to inspect the meetings and events facilities at Warwick Conferences, which posted a turnover of £21m in 2014-15, a year-on-year increase of 31% according to the latest financial accounts filed by the University Of Warwick.
As part of the activities, Warwick Conferences will also host a mixology challenge, testing participants’ ability to replicate a cocktail recipe – again, with a prize up for grabs for the winner.
To finish, guests will be invited to a drinks reception, followed by dinner in on-site fine dining restaurant, 91. Overnight accommodation on Thursday and breakfast on Friday will be included for all guests attending, as well as souvenirs to take home from the day.
The Big Site Visit is run by the HBAA and aims to encourage agent members to visit venues across the country and experience first-hand what they have to offer.
Venues are invited to host an event for agent members in a format that will allow them to best experience the facilities and services, with outstanding efforts recognised at an awards dinner in January 2016.
Rachael Bartlett, head of sales and marketing at Warwick Conferences, said: “We’re hugely excited to be taking part in the very first HBAA Big Site Visit in September.
“Food is one of our key USPs, with an award-winning team behind our menu development and customer service across our venues. As an incredibly important part of what we do at Warwick Conferences, we deliberately chose food-and-drink-related challenges to showcase what we have to offer to our guests in a fun, engaging, and entertaining way.
“We’re very much looking forward to hosting The Great Warwick Mash-Up, and we hope lots of agents have an appetite for what we’ve got planned!”
